Targeting brain blood vessels to help small vessel disease
Treatments studied
Part of Brain & nervous system, Heart & circulation clinical trials.
This study tests a drug that targets a protein called TSPO to see if it can improve the function of the cells lining the small blood vessels in the brain of people with cerebral small vessel disease. It may help with mild memory or thinking problems.
Summary written for real people, not researchers, by Clin2.
Who can take part
- You are 60 to 90 years old
- You have been diagnosed with cerebral small vessel disease (a condition affecting tiny blood vessels in the brain)
- You have mild memory or thinking problems (but not dementia)
- You have a specific genetic type (AA) at a certain location in your DNA
- You are willing to provide a blood sample for genetic testing
- You are not taking certain medications (like some antibiotics, antifungals, or St. John's wort)

This study tracks people with cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) over time using MRI scans. It aims to understand how the condition changes and affects health, which could help improve future care.
This study looks at how small blood vessel disease in the brain (called cerebral small vessel disease) affects thinking, memory, and overall brain health. Researchers will use MRI scans and other tests to find biomarkers that may help predict risk.
This trial uses brain scans (EEG and fMRI) to understand how small vessel disease affects walking. It may help find better ways to treat gait problems like slowness or imbalance.
This study looks at whether certain deep brain veins seen on MRI are linked to thinking and memory problems in people with small-vessel brain disease. It compares brain scan findings with cognitive (thinking) testing to better understand what may drive cognitive dysfunction.
This study looks at how small blood vessel changes in the brain (called 'small vessel disease') affect thinking and memory over time. It may help us understand how to keep brains healthy as we age. If you are 50 or older and do not have any memory concerns, you might be able to join.
This trial tests a drug that targets a brain protein called TSPO in people with mild to moderate Alzheimer's. It aims to see if this approach can slow memory loss.
