- Your bilirubin (jaundice level) in the blood is above 50 before any treatment starts.
- You have not had any previous drainage procedure (like a stent or tube placed through endoscopy or skin) for this blockage.
- You do not currently have a bile duct infection with fever and high white blood cells.
- You do not have a bleeding problem or allergy to contrast dye that cannot be corrected.
