Who can take part

  • You have a malignant (cancer-caused) blockage in the bile duct at or just above the liver's bile duct junction.
  • The blocked area is no longer than 2 centimeters.
  • You have jaundice (yellowing skin or eyes) with a bilirubin level over 3 mg/dL.
  • You need a stent to drain bile before surgery or for comfort, not as a cure.
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have not had any prior procedure to the bile duct (like stent or sphincterotomy).
