Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You must have a pulmonary embolism (a blood clot in the lung) confirmed by a special CT scan.
  • Your condition must be very serious, such as having a cardiac arrest or being in shock with low blood pressure despite fluids.
  • Your heart's right side must show signs of strain on an ultrasound or CT scan.
  • You must not have any condition that makes catheter treatment unsafe, like active bleeding or recent surgery or stroke.
