Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have been diagnosed with a blood clot in the main or large branches of the lung artery within the last 14 days.
  • Your pulmonary embolism is considered intermediate-high risk, meaning your heart is strained (seen on an imaging test) and a blood test shows elevated heart stress markers.
  • You do not have any condition that makes clot-dissolving medication unsafe, such as recent stroke, major bleeding, severe high blood pressure, or recent surgery.
  • You are not pregnant, breastfeeding, or allergic to the study drugs.
  • You do not have a serious active cancer or other major health issues listed in the exclusion criteria.
