Who can take part
- You have severe paralysis of all four limbs (very limited arm, hand, and wrist movement) caused by a spinal cord injury or ALS, and it has lasted at least 1 year without getting better
- Your life expectancy is at least 12 months
- You can communicate in English and have a stable caregiver who helps you daily
- You do not have active implanted devices (like a pacemaker), poorly controlled seizures, or uncontrolled diabetes
- You are not pregnant, do not smoke tobacco products, and can safely undergo brain surgery and MRI scans
