  • You have ALS, PLS, a stroke, or a spinal cord injury that makes it hard to speak and use your hands.
  • Your doctor expects you to live at least 12 more months.
  • You can communicate in English.
  • You have a caregiver who is available and stable.
  • You do not have medical conditions that raise the risk of surgery, like severe obesity, uncontrolled seizures, diabetes, or a weakened immune system.
