Who can take part
- You are between 18 and 65 years old.
- You have paralysis in both arms and legs from a spinal cord injury, brainstem stroke, ALS, or a similar condition, or you have lost both arms above the elbow.
- Your muscle strength in one or both arms is at most a grade 3 (you can move against gravity but not against resistance).
- Your condition has been stable for at least 6 months, and it has been at least 12 months since you were diagnosed.
- You have normal hearing and vision (or vision corrected with glasses), normal thinking ability, and a caregiver who can help you regularly.
- You do not have any metal implants (like a pacemaker or cochlear implant) or other health issues that would make surgery unsafe.
