Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have a chronic (long-standing) blockage in your internal carotid artery and are scheduled for hybrid surgery.
  • You are able to undergo and complete a brain MRI scan.
  • You have not had a hemorrhagic (bleeding) stroke.
  • You do not have severe heart problems or uncontrolled high blood pressure (systolic ≥180 or diastolic ≥110).
  • You do not have severe liver or kidney disease, or any injury or blood clot in your arm that would prevent using a blood pressure cuff treatment.
