This study tests a new bone graft material (Fibergraft BG Putty) used with a special screw system (Viper Prime) during spine fusion surgery. It is for adults with lower back problems who need 1 to 3 vertebrae fused, and who are not smokers or have a very low bone density.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have a spine condition in your lower back, such as a worn-out disc, a slipped vertebra, a fracture, narrowing of the spinal canal, or a curve in your spine.
  • The problem is in your lower back or tailbone area (not your neck).
  • Your surgery will fuse 1 to 3 vertebrae together (not more than 3).
  • You do not currently smoke and have not smoked in the last 6 weeks.
  • Your bone density is not severely low (below a DEXA score of -2.0).
