Who can take part
- You have been diagnosed with primary hyperparathyroidism, meaning your parathyroid glands are making too much of a hormone that raises calcium levels.
- You have symptoms caused by high calcium, such as kidney stones, bone pain, stomach issues, muscle weakness, or sleep problems.
- Even if you have no symptoms, you may qualify if your calcium is significantly high, you have kidney stones or poor kidney function, you have osteoporosis, you are under 50, or you cannot do regular checkups.
- An imaging test (like ultrasound) shows that at least one parathyroid gland is enlarged.
- You do not have another type of hyperparathyroidism caused by kidney failure or vitamin D issues.
- You do not have a severe bleeding disorder or serious heart/lung problems.
