Who can take part
- You are already enrolled in the UK HealthCare weight loss surgery program and are scheduled for a sleeve gastrectomy or gastric bypass.
- You have a BMI of 40 or higher and at least one obesity-related health problem (like diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnea).
- You have stopped using nicotine (cigarettes, vaping, etc.) and can prove it with a blood test.
- You are enrolled in the ADORE Bariatric Tissue Bank study.
- You have not used any GLP-1 medicines (like Ozempic, Wegovy, or Mounjaro) in the last 90 days.
- You do not have certain medical conditions, including a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, pancreatitis, or type 1 diabetes.
