Who can take part

  • Your child is between 1 and 11 years old
  • Your child is in the pediatric intensive care unit and expected to stay for at least 3 more days
  • Your child is getting a standard liquid food through a feeding tube (nose, mouth, or stomach)
  • Your child does not have a muscle or nerve condition (like muscular dystrophy)
  • Your child is not on high-dose steroids, growth hormone, or insulin at home
  • Your child is not getting any nutrition through an IV (parenteral nutrition) or a special diet for burns or metabolic diseases
