Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old and admitted to an ICU
  • You receive all nutrition through a tube into your stomach or through an IV line (not eating regular food)
  • You have acute kidney injury or worsening kidney disease, shown by a recent change in kidney function blood tests
  • You do not have severe liver disease or end-stage kidney disease requiring dialysis at hospital admission
  • You do not have a history of kidney transplant
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 30 or less
