Ceretrieve Device for acute ischemic stroke treatment

Acute Ischemic Stroke

This study tests a new device called Ceretrieve that is designed to remove blood clots from large arteries in the brain for people having a severe ischemic stroke. If you are eligible, you will receive the device treatment (a mechanical thrombectomy) within 24 hours of your first symptoms.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You are having an acute ischemic stroke (a clot blocking blood flow in your brain) and can get treatment within 24 hours of when symptoms started.
  • Before this stroke, you were independent and able to do everyday activities without help.
  • At the hospital, your stroke severity score (NIHSS) is greater than 6, meaning your stroke is at least moderately severe.
  • A brain scan confirms there is a clot in a large artery in your head or neck that can be reached with a special device.
  • You do not have a bleeding disorder or other health condition that would make the procedure risky.
