Who can take part
- You are 16 years old or older and on a breathing machine (ventilator) that you will need for more than 48 hours.
- You have a serious lung condition called ARDS, diagnosed when you started on the ventilator.
- You did not already have a tracheostomy when the ventilator was started.
- You were not transferred to this hospital more than 2 days after starting on the ventilator.
- Your condition is not considered terminal (imminently life-threatening and not expected to improve).
- You have not said no to having your medical data used for research.
