Who can take part
- You are older than 18 years.
- You have a chest injury (like from a car crash or fall) that happened less than 5 days ago.
- Your CT scan shows at least 3 broken ribs.
- You need extra oxygen to keep your oxygen levels above 92% or have a specific blood gas test result showing mild to moderate low oxygen levels.
- You are admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU).
- You will have a follow-up CT scan of your chest within the first 5 days after the injury.
