Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for a first-time hip arthroscopy (keyhole surgery) to treat femoroacetabular impingement (a condition where your hip bones rub).
  • You have pain in the front of your hip or groin, limited hip movement, and a positive test for impingement.
  • Imaging (MRI or MRA) must show a cam-type impingement with an alpha angle greater than 60 degrees.
  • You must not have had prior hip surgery, severe arthritis (Tonnis grade 2+), certain hip deformities, autoimmune conditions, or a workers' comp claim.
  • You cannot have additional procedures like trochanteric bursectomy or gluteus medius repair during the same surgery.
