Who can take part

  • You must have extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (cancer that has spread outside one lung or to other parts of the body).
  • You must not have had any chemotherapy or other treatments specifically for this stage of cancer before.
  • Your cancer must be measurable on scans, with no more than 5 spots (tumors) that have spread.
  • You need to be in generally good health, able to walk and care for yourself (ECOG score 0-2), with a life expectancy of at least 3 months.
  • Your major organs (heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, bone marrow) must be working well enough, based on blood tests and heart ultrasound.
