Proton radiation for dangerous heart rhythms

Who can take part

  • You are 40 years old or older.
  • You have an implantable defibrillator (ICD, CRT-D, or S-ICD).
  • You have had at least 3 episodes of dangerous heart rhythms (ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation) in the last 6 months that required a shock or pacing from your device, even with the strongest medications.
  • You cannot have a standard catheter ablation (a procedure to burn the abnormal heart tissue) because it's too risky, or you've already had one that didn't work.
  • Your heart's pumping strength (left ventricular ejection fraction) is at least 20%.
