New EKG score to detect heart stiffness in high blood pressure

This study tests a new scoring method using your heart's electrical signals (EKG) and imaging to detect early stiffness of the heart's main pumping chamber, which often goes unnoticed in people with high blood pressure. If you have high blood pressure and no other major heart or kidney problems, you may be able to join.

Who can take part

  • You must have essential high blood pressure (not caused by another condition).
  • Your blood pressure should not be resistant to treatment or caused by another disease.
  • Your heart's pumping ability (LVEF) must be 55% or higher.
  • You must not have certain heart conditions like coronary artery disease, valve problems, congenital heart disease, or bundle branch block.
  • You must not have chronic kidney disease or an irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia).
