Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older with severe peripheral artery disease (PAD) causing pain at rest or sores on your leg or foot.
  • You have at least one narrowed or blocked artery below the knee, between 2.0 and 4.0 mm in diameter.
  • That artery is at least 50% blocked.
  • You do not have mild or moderate PAD (Rutherford categories 0–3).
  • You are able to have an MRI (no metal implants or pacemaker, not claustrophobic).
  • For this part of the study, the blockage must not be completely closed off (chronic total occlusion).
