Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You are scheduled for spine surgery (neck, upper back, or lower back) that involves no more than three bones.
  • You are generally healthy (classified as ASA I or II by your anesthesiologist).
  • You have never had spine surgery before.
  • You do not have diabetes, take steroids, or abuse drugs or alcohol.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you have no known allergies to the medicines used (ropivacaine, betamethasone, or opioids).
