Who can take part
- You must have rectal cancer that has been confirmed by a biopsy (tissue sample).
- You cannot have received any prior treatment for your rectal cancer (except for people with Lynch syndrome, who may have had no treatment for this specific cancer).
- Your cancer must be at a certain stage (T1-3bN1-2 or T3aN0 or T3bN0) and not involve nearby muscles or blood vessels, as seen on an MRI.
- You need to be in generally good health with adequate organ function (like blood counts, liver and kidney function) and able to perform daily activities (ECOG score 0-1).
- You cannot have a history of certain other cancers, active autoimmune diseases, uncontrolled infections, or serious heart problems.
