- You are an adult (older than 18) and a member of the Old Order Amish community in Lancaster, PA.
- You are not pregnant (if you could become pregnant, a pregnancy test will be done).
- You do not have diabetes (your blood sugar and HbA1c levels must be below certain limits).
- Your kidneys, liver, and thyroid are working normally (based on blood tests).
- You are not anemic (your red blood cell count is above a minimum level).
- You are not taking any medications that might interfere with sitagliptin.
