This study tests if using virtual reality can help you feel more comfortable while recovering in the intensive care unit (ICU) after major surgery. If you are having heart or major abdominal surgery and will stay in the ICU for at least 2 days, you may be able to try a VR program to see if it eases your stay.

Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You are scheduled for major heart, lung, or abdominal surgery
- You will be in the surgical ICU for at least 2 days after surgery
- You are not confused or delirious when the study starts
- You are not on a breathing machine for more than 48 hours and do not have a severe infection
- You are not taking strong medicines for depression, anxiety, or psychosis
