Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older
- You are in the intensive care unit for septic shock (a severe infection causing very low blood pressure)
- You have had a heart ultrasound (echocardiogram) as part of your regular care
- You are not pregnant
- You do not have moderate or severe heart valve problems
- Your heart rate was not above 140 beats per minute during the ultrasound
- You do not have a pacemaker or a mechanical heart pump
