Electrical stimulation to improve leg movement after stroke

This trial tests a new way to help people with stroke move their legs better by combining electrical stimulation on the back and leg. If you have had a stroke more than 6 months ago and can already walk with or without a cane, this treatment might help strengthen ankle muscles and make walking easier.

Who can take part

  • You are between 50 and 85 years old.
  • You had a single stroke at least 6 months ago, but less than 15 years ago.
  • You can move your ankle upward at least 5 degrees while sitting or lying down.
  • You can walk 10 meters (about 30 feet) on your own, even with a cane or walker.
  • You can understand simple instructions and do not have severe memory problems.
