Optimizing control of a prosthetic arm after osseointegration surgery

This study looks at a new way to control a prosthetic arm after you have had osseointegration surgery (where a metal implant is placed in your bone to attach the arm). It will help find the best settings for the muscle signals that control the arm.

Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • You have been scheduled for osseointegration surgery through the Alberta Limb Osseointegration Program.
  • You have enough pain-free movement in your shoulder to do the required tasks.
  • You have muscle signals in your arm that can be used to control a myoelectric (muscle-powered) prosthetic.
  • You are willing to follow all study procedures and attend follow-up visits.
  • You can understand English well enough to give informed consent.
