Who can take part

  • You must be 18 or older and able to have a sleep study done in the lab.
  • You must either be healthy (with no sleep apnea) or have sleep apnea (AHI > 10).
  • You cannot be taking any medications that affect breathing or interact with morphine, such as certain antidepressants, sedatives, or other opioids.
  • You cannot have serious health conditions like heart disease, kidney or liver problems, asthma, COPD, or a history of seizures or head injury.
  • You cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a history of substance abuse.
