This trial tests if colchicine can reduce pain and swelling in people with CPPD (calcium pyrophosphate deposition disease), a type of arthritis. If you have had a swollen, red, or warm joint in the last 3 months and your pain is moderate or higher, this study may offer a possible treatment.

Who can take part

  • You have CPPD (a type of arthritis caused by calcium crystals in the joints).
  • You have had at least one joint that is swollen, red, or warm to the touch in the past 3 months.
  • Your pain level at screening is at least 30 on a 0-100 scale (0 = no pain, 100 = worst pain).
  • You are 40 years or older.
  • You are not currently taking colchicine, or you are willing to stop taking it for 30 days before starting the study.
  • You do not have gout, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, or cirrhosis.
