  • You are between 35 and 75 years old.
  • You are generally healthy based on a medical checkup, heart test, and blood tests.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is between 20 and 35.
  • Your uric acid level is between 6.8 mg/dL and 12 mg/dL (measured twice, at least a week apart).
  • You have never had gout or taken uric acid-lowering medicine.
  • You have no serious health problems like kidney disease, heart disease, liver disease, or cancer.
