Testing a new gout drug for safety and effect on uric acid

Who can take part

  • You have gout (diagnosed by a doctor) and are not having a flare-up right now.
  • Your uric acid level is above 7 mg/dL (420 µmol/L) at the screening visit.
  • You have not taken any gout-lowering medication in the 14 days before the study starts.
  • You have not had a gout attack in the last 14 days.
  • You do not have a history of certain enzyme deficiencies (G6PD or catalase) or cancer.
  • You have never received pegolase or similar enzyme treatments for gout.
