Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have cardiogenic shock (a severe heart failure that lowers blood flow) and are on a heart-lung machine called VA-ECMO.
  • This is your first time being on ECMO.
  • You do not have severe pulmonary hypertension (very high blood pressure in the lungs).
  • Any medicines you take to raise blood pressure are for your heart shock, not for other reasons.
