Who can take part

  • You are 65 years or older.
  • You are scheduled for elective (non-emergency) major abdominal surgery for cancer.
  • Your heart health is classified as ASA II, III, or IV (your doctor can explain).
  • Your revised cardiac risk score is 2 or higher.
  • The surgery is expected to last at least 2 hours.
  • Your doctor plans to use an arterial line (a small tube in an artery) to monitor your blood pressure during surgery.
