Who can take part

  • Your BMI (body mass index) should be over 25 but not over 35.
  • Your total cholesterol must be 250 or lower, and your triglycerides 200 or lower.
  • You have type 2 diabetes that is well controlled (HbA1c at or below 7.5%) and you manage it with diet alone or diet plus metformin only (no insulin or other diabetes drugs).
  • You have not had a heart attack or stroke.
  • You do not have kidney or liver problems, anemia, or any other chronic disease.
  • You do not do regular intense exercise.
