Comparing breathing tubes for voice box protection during esophagectomy

Who can take part

  • You are 19 years old or older
  • You are scheduled for a robot-assisted surgery to remove part of the esophagus
  • Your doctor plans to remove lymph nodes near the nerve that controls your voice box (recurrent laryngeal nerve)
  • You do not already have a paralyzed or damaged vocal cord
  • You have not had prior chest surgery
