Who can take part

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You must have a diagnosis of liver cirrhosis.
  • You do not have inflammatory bowel disease (like Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis).
  • You do not have an active infection of the stomach or intestines.
  • You are not currently being treated for any type of cancer.
  • You are not taking medications called proton pump inhibitors (like omeprazole) or NSAIDs (like ibuprofen).
  • You do not have spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (an infection in the belly fluid).
  • You do not have hepatic encephalopathy (confusion caused by liver problems).
  • You are willing to take part in the study.
