- You are 18 years or older
- You have ARDS (a severe lung condition) and have been on a breathing machine for less than 72 hours
- You do NOT have a collapsed lung (pneumothorax)
- You are NOT on a heart-lung bypass machine (ECMO)

- You have no severe chest injuries or wounds that prevent using a monitoring belt
