Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You do not currently meet physical activity guidelines (are inactive or not active enough).
  • You are not already doing regular strength or isometric (holding) exercises.
  • You can come to lab sessions for 4 weeks.
  • You do not have high blood pressure that requires medication.
  • You do not have any heart, nerve, or muscle problems that would make isometric exercise unsafe.
  • You are not pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the study.
