Finding the best dose of numbing medicine for knee surgery pain

Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for knee surgery with general anesthesia.
  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • Your body mass index (BMI) is 35 or less.
  • You do not have nerve damage in your thigh, a bleeding disorder, an allergy to numbing medicines, or an infection near the injection site.
  • You do not have long-term pain or regularly take strong painkillers (opioids).
  • You are not pregnant, and you do not have diabetes with nerve damage.
