Who can take part

  • You have type 1 or type 2 diabetes for at least 1 year, or you are a healthy volunteer.
  • Your blood sugar control (HbA1c) must be within a certain range (6.5% to 9.5% for type 2 diabetes, 6% to 8.5% for type 1 diabetes).
  • You use a long-acting insulin (like Lantus) daily for type 2 diabetes (in one part of the study).
  • You have not had a serious low blood sugar episode or needed emergency care for high blood sugar in the last 6 months.
  • You do not have any major heart, stomach, or liver problems.
