Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 60 years old.
  • Your BMI is between 18.5 and 40.
  • You either have depression (diagnosed by a doctor) or you have never had depression.
  • You do not have a history of brain injury, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, severe substance use, heart disease, stroke, epilepsy, chronic inflammatory disease, or type 1 diabetes.
  • You have not had obsessive-compulsive disorder, somatic symptom disorder, or an eating disorder in the past year.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and have no metal implants, claustrophobia, or ear piercings or skin issues that would interfere with the ear stimulation.
