Who can take part

  • You are 18 years old or older.
  • You have a lower respiratory tract infection (such as pneumonia or bronchitis) that is likely caused by bacteria and needs antibiotics.
  • You are admitted to a hospital unit such as Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Infectious Disease, Pneumology, Semi Intensive Care, ICU, or Emergency Medicine.
  • You agree to take part in the study and sign a consent form.
  • You do not have a severely weakened immune system (except from corticosteroid use).
  • You do not have another infection that requires long-term antibiotics, such as endocarditis or osteomyelitis.
