Comparing fast vs. slow blood cleaning for severe diquat poisoning

Diquat Poisoning

This trial tests if starting a type of blood cleaning (CVVHDF) more quickly after a filtering step (hemoperfusion) works better than waiting a bit longer in people with severe diquat poisoning. It aims to find the safest and most effective way to remove the poison from your blood.

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You drank diquat solution (a weed killer) within the last 48 hours.
  • Your blood test shows a high level of diquat (at least 1,000 ng/mL) when you arrive at the emergency room.
  • You have not taken any other poison or harmful substance along with the diquat.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • You have not had any blood cleaning treatments in the last 2 months, and you do not have severe kidney disease or a recent kidney transplant.
