Who can take part

  • You are over 21 years old.
  • You are expected to need a breathing machine for more than 24 hours.
  • You might have ARDS as defined by the Berlin criteria (lung injury within 1 week of a known cause like trauma).
  • You have not had lung diseases like tumors or interstitial lung disease before.
  • You do not have fluid overload or acute kidney injury/failure.
