Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 79 years old.
  • Your surgery is a planned abdominal procedure (like gallbladder, bowel, gynecologic, liver, or urologic surgery).
  • Your surgery will last between 1 and 4 hours.
  • You do not have sleep apnea, nerve/muscle disorders, or mental/cognitive issues.
  • You have not had another surgery in the past month.
  • You are able to follow instructions and give informed consent.
