This trial tests a new investigational drug called BEBT-209 combined with fulvestrant (a hormone therapy) versus placebo with fulvestrant for people with a type of breast cancer that is hormone receptor-positive and HER2-negative. It is for those whose cancer has worsened after previous hormone therapy and has spread locally or to other parts of the body.

Who can take part

  • You must be a woman 18 or older, and either postmenopausal or willing to take a drug to suppress ovarian function.
  • Your breast cancer must be HR+ (hormone receptor-positive) and HER2-negative, confirmed by a recent biopsy.
  • Your cancer must have grown during or within 12 months of finishing hormone therapy, or within 1 month of starting hormone therapy for advanced disease.
  • You may have had up to one chemotherapy for advanced cancer, but no previous treatment with fulvestrant, everolimus, or CDK4/6 inhibitors.
  • You must be in good general health, with adequate blood cell counts, kidney and liver function, and no uncontrolled heart conditions.
