High-Risk Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (High-risk PCI)

Who can take part

  • You are scheduled to have a non-emergency heart stent procedure for a blockage in a heart artery or bypass graft.
  • A team of heart doctors (including a heart surgeon) has decided that a high-risk stent procedure is right for you.
  • You have not had a stroke with lasting problems, or a stroke or mini-stroke within the last 3 months.
  • You do not need to stop taking blood thinners or anti-clotting medications within 90 days of the procedure.
  • You are not on dialysis and do not have a known blood clotting disorder.
  • You are not allergic to nickel, heparin, or contrast dye, and do not have an active infection or fever.
