New MRI for stroke in the first 24 hours

Who can take part

  • You had a stroke that started less than 24 hours ago.
  • Your stroke symptoms are moderate to severe (a score of 4 to 24 on a standard stroke scale).
  • You can have an MRI scan (no metal implants, pacemaker, or other restrictions).
  • You are not scheduled for a clot-removal procedure (thrombectomy).
  • You were able to walk and care for yourself before this stroke (no major disability beforehand).
